We got Sooty at 14 years. Had her until last month, just two months shy of 20. Adopting a senior isn't easy but she was my best friend. She had hyperthyroidism and eventually cancer. You're doing amazing. ❤

I've just watched the video where you adopted him. You're such a kind hearted person for adopting an older cat. He's adorable and looks v happy with you. I'm sorry about his health struggles, I lost my wonderful soul cat to cancer and it devastated me. It's been a year and a half and I'm preparing to adopt again but it's difficult after such a close bond. How is he doing now? Sending him lots of good vibes.

Senior cats are the best! They are so appreciative of everything you do for them. Yes, kittens are adorable but they only stay kittens for a little while. Senior cats are more mellow and, in my experience, are more interested in interacting with you than kittens, who are busy chasing around burning off all that energy. I only adopt older adult cats. More people should give them a try.

I was 74 when i deceided that i needed one more cat in my life. I was definitely planning on a senior cat. Then COVID closed the shelters. And i hadnt found the right kitty. I live in an retirement facility, in a studio. apartment . I had found away around the huge pet deposit. I had all the cat stuff. And no cat. Then one day the administrator asked me if i wanted another residents cat. As she was no longer wanted. And i said yes to a 10 month old tabby kitten. It was a perfect decesion. Nellie was only 4 months old when she arrived here. She was used to all the things that scared older cats being brought here. Fire alarms, various people entering, absolutely norhing botherd her. Sge had been dissplined rather harshly to never go out the door, bother a persons food etc. And had not been played with. But she clung to me to begin with. Love and cuddles came first. Then, play and toys. A cat tree Nellie is now a almost 5 year old , beautiful tabby girl. She is everyones friend and my total love. I am going to be 79 soon . Nellie is the 17th cat of my life. But i hxve never been as closly bonded to one as i am to her. She has accepted that getting down on the floor, with my knees, is not the best thought. I accept the fact that she has finally realized she can meow. Lol
